Lipo Aftercare

After your liposuction procedure, our board-certified plastic surgeons will provide detailed instructions on how to care for your incisions and how to manage any discomfort. The area will remain numb after surgery is complete, so it’s unlikely that you’ll feel any discomfort for some time after the procedure. While you won’t be put to sleep during the procedure, you will still need someone to drive you home.

Once you get home, you’ll need to rest as much as possible for the first day or so, but you can return to a desk job about two to three days after the procedure, and in many cases go back to exercising a week to ten days later. Full recovery will take several weeks. You’ll want to attend all your follow-up appointments to ensure you’re healing properly.

Aftercare for liposuction under local anesthesia is relatively simple. You’ll need to wear a compression garment, take antibiotics to help with healing, and take pain medication as needed.

You will also need to gently wash and clean your body and incision sites regularly to reduce the risk of infection and to ensure they heal properly. 

As you return to work and exercise, do so with caution. Try not to overdo it. You’ll also want to stick to a healthy diet and regular exercise to maintain your results.
